(Union internationale des télécommunications)
   L’UIT (Union internationale des télécommunications) est l’organisation internationale chargée de la normalisation des télécommunications à l’échelon mondial. Basée à Genève (Suisse), elle est l’une des 16 agences spécialisées des Nations Unies, avec 191 Etats membres et 640 membres du secteur privé. Les gouvernements et le secteur privé travaillent de concert pour créer ou normaliser les protocoles nécessaires, et coordonner l’organisation des réseaux et services de télécommunications. Par ailleurs, l’UIT gère la base terminologique Termite (Terminology of Telecommunications) dans six langues (anglais, arabe, chinois, espagnol, français, russe).
